Open Platform Communications – Unified Architecture, or OPC UA for short, describes a machine-to-machine (M2M) communication protocol developed by the OPC Foundation. It is widely used for communication with industrial equipment and systems for data collection and control.
Implementing this protocol with the Cybus Connectware allows to establish communication between various machines and applications that support OPC UA in the shop floor.
The Connectware can act both as an OPC UA Client and as an OPC UA Server. As a client it can collect data from OPC UA servers, e.g. from machines that provide data through a server. As a server, it can map data from any other source protocol to be provided on OPC UA data nodes.
