What is BACnet?

BACnet is a data communication protocol for Building Automation and Control networks, which was developed with the support of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

What is BACnet used for?

The purpose of developing this protocol was to enable communication of building automation and control systems for applications such as heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning control, lighting control, access control, and fire detection systems and their associated equipment.

With the BACnet protocol, computerized building automation devices can exchange information irrespective of the building service they perform.

BACnet implementation with Cybus

This protocol implementation with the Cybus Connectware allows users to seamlessly connect to BACnet devices. With Cybus
Connectware, Data from BACnet devices can be made available on MQTT in JSON Format or OPC UA, normalized or enriched with
meta data and forwarded to IT systems like databases, SCADA systems, dashboards, data lakes or IoT Platforms like Azure or
AWS.
