What is a Smart Factory?

A smart factory describes an industrial plant in industry 4.0, where self-organizing systems autonomously assist to enhance quality and productivity of production. Smart Factories are based on cyber-physical systems that allow plants to optimize and solve specific tasks through smart production. The smart factory manages itself autonomously from logistics and machinery disposition and can adapt to changes in demand and other relevant factors.
