Cybus Connectware Release 2.7.0: More of your shop floor available, less load on your machines

TLDR.:

  • Two new connectors: CSV files and tightening controllers
  • A UI that adapts to the screen you use on the shop floor
  • More data points without more requests to your machines
  • Keep the database under your own rules

CSV File and Open Protocol connectors

Two more kinds of data are now in reach:

  • CSV files, wherever they sit: a folder on the Connectware host, or a remote server over FTP or SFTP.
  • Tightening results, read straight from the controller: target torque, actual torque, angle, pass or fail, for every bolt driven.

Atlas Copco published Open Protocol as an open specification, and tightening controllers from other vendors speak it too. So one connector reaches Atlas Copco Power Focus and PowerMACS, Bosch Rexroth and Desoutter. Your bolt-level traceability record now sits with the rest of your production data, where the systems that need it can reach it.

A UI that adapts to the screen you are using

The UI now works on mobile devices as well as the desktop, so you can check a service from the shop floor. Resize tables or let them fit automatically, hide and reorder columns, and run actions straight from a row.

!ref and !sub references accept umlauts and other special characters, so a resource can carry the name the line actually has.

More data points, fewer requests

Three changes cut the traffic between Connectware and your equipment:

  • OPC UA batch read and write move a set of values in a single request instead of one request per value.
  • The rebuilt ADS connector for Beckhoff TwinCAT 2 and 3 takes values as the PLC pushes them on change, which removes the polling cycle.
  • The broker’s authentication cache refreshes in batches and covers MQTT 5 clients, so permission checks stay out of the way of connecting clients.

Connections that look after themselves

ADS reconnects on its own with a backoff, and a liveness watchdog confirms a connection is still live, not just open. OPC UA subscriptions are evaluated per node, so the rest of a subscription keeps delivering.

Bring your own PostgreSQL

Connectware can also run against your own PostgreSQL, up to version 18, so the database falls under your own backup and monitoring rules. The bundled database stays the default.

When is 2.7.0 available?
