What is an ERP?

An Enterprise Resource Planning system is a business software for managing and integrating the core aspects of business activities such as finance, manufacturing, supply-chain, HR, procurement or service.

In manufacturing context, the ERP system is – through connectors – attached to information that is collected at manufacturing entities. The ERP system can also provide information from order management directly to production planning or manufacturing sites and logistics. This system is the highest level of the Automation Pyramid and provides insights for strategic decisions to improve the production.
